National Science Day celebrations at ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru
As per the directives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India/ICAR, the ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru observed National Science Day-2015 on the theme “Science for Nation Building”. The Institute organized several events during 23rd to 28th February 2015 to commemorate the occasion and lay importance of science and spread scientific awareness. The scientists from the Institute visited one of the villages and interacted with the livestock farmers. The farmers were imparted about the beneficial aspects of scientific management of their animals, viz. appropriate feeding practices, shelter management, maintainance of hygienic environment etc. to obtain better returns from the animals reared by them. The farmers were enthusiastically receptive and appreciative of the interaction by the Institute scientists with them.
The Institute invited students from several Kendriya Vidyalayas to participate in few events like elocution, quiz and science fair and the wards of the staff were invited to participate in essay writing on the subject importance of science. The response was highly encouraging as a large number of students took part in the events enthusiastically. Many of the students and teachers also evinced their interest in the Institute research work by visiting the Institute laboratories.
The celebrations successfully concluded on 28th February 2015 with the address by the chief guest, Dr. B.S.V.Reddy, former Dean, Veterinary College, Bengaluru, who spoke about the need for pursuing science and encouraged the gathering to give importance to the study of science and how it can contribute in nation building.
